Thank you for helping to make this Conference our best yet! The 2010 Minnesota Trans Health and Wellness Conference was held on Friday, May 14 and Saturday, May 15, and drew approximately 300 people over two days. It was a wonderful success!

We would like to introduce you to Tracey Clark, our new Syringe Exchange Coordinator!
Tracey is a college student, a mom and a community activist. She is passionate about harm reduction, working with the GLBT community, and women's studies. She is very excited to be working with the Minnesota Transgender Health Coalition. Tracey has experience working with injection drug users and with GLBT youth, and has done domestic violence advocacy and is a certified nursing assistant.
Tracey will be running the Syringe Exchange every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to Noon. We're very excited to have her as a new member of our team!

Katie Burgess is our Interim Program Director!
Katie runs our direct service programs which
include our shot clinic, syringe exchange, and Hep C prevetion program.
She is very excited to be working for the Minnesota Transgender Health Coalition and looks
forward to continuing the great work already done by MTHC.
Katie Burgess has been an activist and organizer in the transgender
community, working to improve access to health care, and expanding and improving youth services
for the past eight years. She is currently a youth counseler at Avenues
Shelter for Homeless youth and an Advisory Board Member for the
Transgender Youth Support Network. She is an artist and juggler and a
line cook on the weekend.

We are now offering a variety of direct services at our new office, 3405 Chicago Ave S, Suite 103, Minneapolis, MN 55407.
The building
is still under construction -- please enter through the back door, and parking is on the street for now (eventually the small
parking lot behind the building will be accessible as well).
Syringe Exchange every Tuesday, 9 a.m. to Noon
The syringe exchange is open to anyone who is an Injection Drug User (IDU) regardless of gender or drug of choice. You do NOT have to be trans identified to use the exchange on Tuesdays.
Hepatitis C HIV testing, Case Management Referral
We offer confidential Hep C testing and counseling / education, and will soon be offering HIV testing and counseling / education as well. You may also visit our office if you need a referral to a Case Manager to get help with housing, health insurance, employment, and/or medical care.
Shot Clinic every Friday, 4 - 6 p.m.
Do you inject hormones as part of a doctor recommended regimen? Then you should come on down to the Shot Clinic!
The Transgender Health Project Shot Clinic is a group of concerned trans folks helping out other trans folks with their hormone shots.
We meet every Friday and can help you by administering your shots,
teaching you to do the shots yourself and we can give you free needles
and supplies. We offer a needle exchange, informational/ support group
time and case management. We can hook you up with doctors and help you
with different aspects of your transition

Dr. Lisa O'Connor, May 14 Provider Day Keynote, is
a board-certified family practice physician and a certified cognitive
behavioral therapist. She is one of the foremost experts in the field
of gender variant counseling and medical care. When Dr. O'Connor
transitioned in 2005, she found a significant lack of medical and
psychological support. She regularly speaks with health care providers and government
agencies to further education. Her clinic, Healthy Transitions, (http://www.healthytransitions.md) opened in March of 2006.
Yoseñio Lewis, May 15 Community Day Keynote, is
a dark skinned Latino of African descent female to male transsexual who
has been a social justice activist since he was 13 years old. A health
educator, speaker, writer, performer, trainer, facilitator and
spiritual hugger, Yoseñio is a member of the Board of Directors of both the
Woodhull Freedom Foundation and Unid@s, the National Latino LGBT Human Rights Organization.
